The Platinum@BCN building in Barcelona’s 22@ technological district has achieved a record LEED PLATINUM certification of 101 points out of 100, transforming it into the most sustainable workspace in the world.

The building was designed entirely by GCA Architects to respond to the energy requirements of the location, the incidence of sunlight, the urban environment and the usage of the building.

Designed according to the principles of biophilic design, the complex has three green areas which help reducing significantly the building’s ecological footprint. Two terraces acts as a meeting place and outdoor life area for workers, while the center of the block is open to neighbors acting as a green public lung providing a space for socialization for this typically industrial neighborhood.
